How to Install ViMovies on Firestick

The Fire TV Stick runs Fire OS, which is built on Android — so ViMovies installs on it just like on any Android TV box. The only difference is the tool you use: Amazon's Downloader app. The whole process takes about five minutes.

Get the ViMovies APK

Step 1: Install Downloader

From your Fire TV home screen, search for Downloader (orange icon) in the Appstore and install it. It's free and takes seconds.

Step 2: Allow Unknown Sources for Downloader

  1. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options.
  2. Select Install unknown apps (on older Fire OS: Apps from Unknown Sources).
  3. Turn the toggle on for Downloader only.
Don't see Developer Options? Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About, then click your device name seven times to reveal it.

Step 3: Download and Install ViMovies

  1. Open Downloader and enter the address of the official download page.
  2. Select the download button; the APK saves automatically.
  3. When the install prompt appears, choose Install, then Open.
  4. Optional: let Downloader delete the APK afterwards to free space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Fire TV devices work with ViMovies?

All of them — Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick, 4K, 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube. Older Sticks run the app fine; the 4K models feel the smoothest.

Is the Downloader app safe?

Yes. Downloader is a well-known utility published in the official Amazon Appstore, used specifically for fetching files on Fire TV.

Why isn't ViMovies in the Amazon Appstore?

Independent streaming apps distribute directly as APKs rather than through app stores. Fire OS fully supports this via the unknown-sources permission.

Will Amazon updates remove the app?

No. Fire OS updates don't uninstall sideloaded apps. Your installed version and settings remain in place.
